Gravity Casting

Demanding geometries and high component requirements are ideal conditions for chill casting, which is why the EUROIT partners use the gravity die casting process for their demanding applications. Here, the melt is poured under the action of gravity in the casting mold (mold). The mold causes due to their thermal conductivity accelerated cooling of the aluminum melt, which leads to a rapidly progressive solidification. This results in a fine-grained and dense structure and guarantees very high strength values.

Depending on the geometry of the component, sand cores can also be used by gravity die casting. The process is suitable for mass production of castings weighing up to 15 kg.

Advantages in the gravity die casting process

  • Low tooling costs compared to die casting

  • Complex internal geometries can be displayed (by sand core)

  • High degree of automation possible

  • Excellent material properties

  • Castings possible

  • Tightness
